ABOUT

Raymond Pavkov, CMC, CMBHI

Raymond Pavkov is the type of person you would expect to find in the intricate business of recording the inexorable march of our time.

Pavkov is, for the record, a Certified Master Clockmaker, which required an 8,000 hour apprenticeship and included a 3 year study with the British Horological Institute and the American Watchmakers Institute.

The road to becoming a Master Clockmaker was long and arduous; working under a seventh-generation Master Clockmaker. Pavkov was the first graduate of the Connecticut State Apprenticeship in Clock-making, which will give you some inkling as to why you might find your watch so baffling when you look inside and see a wheel traveling in one direction then quickly reversing, 18,000 times each hour!

When you talk to him you will quickly see that Mr. Pavkov loves the chimes and all else about his work as he labors at his bench, plying his mastered trade of antique clock restoration.

The secret to all of those wheels and gears is no secret to the Yankee Clock Peddler, and when they start ailing, you would be well advised to stop in right away, as it won't get better by itself.

As you can see from these photographs if you disassembled one of these old clocks, you would probably need someone of Ray's help to put it back in working order!
